What is All About Car Mats?
Several years ago after attending hundreds of car club events in the U.S., Asia, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and the Middle East, while working to expand the Meguiar’s car wax (a superb product by the way) business globally, I noticed that floor mats are often over looked even in ‘car guys’ or enthusiasts cars. Most owners I talked with wanted to get better car mats, but they just could not find them in retail outlets.
This happened at the same time as the mats in my Lexus needed to be replaced for the second time. I could not understand why the mats in a car as rock solid as a Lexus needed to be replaced every year or two. Getting new mats was not easy because this car was in Hong Kong and new front mats had to be special ordered by the dealer from Japan, and took 4-5 weeks to arrive.
Somehow car mats entered my collective consciousness. I became determined to get better mats than those that came with my car (I succeeded). In the process, I learned a lot about how mats are made, the various materials (their pluses and minuses), when you can save money by using universal mats, and where to find the right mats to upgrade your car or truck.
In this blog I hope to give your straight, truthful information about car mats. Remember I told you that I found better mats for my Lexus? Well I made them and they are called Posh Pile. So even though we sell car mats, I will do my very best to give you honest information on carpet and rubber car mats regardless if you buy Posh Pile or not.
